AN ART SHOW & EVENT TO CELEBRATE OUR CYCLES
Menstrala will be Philadelphia's first menstrual art focused show! We invite all to attend and all womxn, female-identifying, and gender non-conforming folks to submit their artwork to be included in a collective show at The Common Room; a gallery and workshop space in Fishtown that promotes women and non-binary artists.
We welcome all art forms, including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, and multi-media relating to the presence or absence of your menstrual cycle, wombs, matriarchal wisdom and pain, bleeding and blood, connection to the moon and nature, taboo, fertility, or any way you experience or perceive the divine feminine. We welcome artwork made with blood, though it is not required. New and emerging artists are welcome and encouraged!
The show will be hosted and curated by local artists Rachael Amber and Sadie Francis, along with gallery owner Chelsey Eiel. There is no entry fee. You many submit up to three pieces. All pieces must be available to sell. The Common Room will collect a 40% commission on sold work.
Accepted artists will be invited, though not required, to speak, dance, or sing about their work and journey at a ticketed art show opening event in partnership with the Atlas Obscura Society the evening of May 4th, 2019.
